Summer's longer days and warmer weather provide a great time to explore where you find happiness and joy. Tarot is a useful tool for gaining insight and perspective. When used as a regular practice, it can help you stay present and mindful.
Using Tarot for Self-Reflection
Working with the Tarot can provide insight into your current thoughts and feelings. The act of shuffling cards, choosing one, and considering its meaning centers your mind on the present moment. Consider using this question as a way to think about how to use the energy of the summer:
"What can I learn from summer's energy as a way to find my joy?"
Find a quiet spot where you feel comfortable. Shuffle your tarot deck while thinking about your question. When ready, pick a card and consider its message.
My example: Six of Cups
I drew the Six of Cups, which always makes me think of nostalgia and people and events from my past. This summer, I've been feeling a great deal of nostalgia as my 18-year-old graduated from high school and is headed to college. This card paired with my question reminds me to lean into those memories and the feelings of joy, excitement, sadness, and nostalgia. By embracing the joy and the feelings of these poignant memories of my own transition from high school to college, and my son's life journey from baby to young adult, I am able to be fully present with myself and with him as he moves through this big life milestone. The Six of Cups validates what I'm experiencing and encourages me to be present in the moment with my family.

Your Turn
Now, draw your own card. What did you get? How might its meaning relate to finding joy this summer? Consider the card's imagery, symbols, and traditional interpretations. How does it connect to your current life situation?
Wrapping Up
Tarot can offer fresh perspectives that may help you uncover sources of joy, especially during the vibrant summer months. By using tarot to stay present and ask meaningful questions, you may gain insights about what truly makes you happy. Consider using your tarot deck as a tool for self-reflection this summer and journal about what you discover.
